What a marijuana menu is
A marijuana menu is a list of cannabis products for sale at one store. Each item shows a name, a category, a weight or count, THC content, and a price. Online menus show live inventory. In-store menus sit at a counter or on a screen. State law also requires labels on the package itself: THC in milligrams, net weight, batch number, and a license number.

Menu categories
- Flower: sold by weight. Common sizes are 1 g, 3.5 g (an eighth), 7 g, 14 g, and 28 g (1 oz). THC on flower runs from about 15% to 30% at most stores.
- Pre-rolls: 0.5 g or 1 g joints, sold alone or in packs of 5 or 10.
- Vape cartridges: 0.5 g or 1 g. The label lists THC in milligrams or percent.
- Concentrates: wax, shatter, rosin, and live resin. Sold in 0.5 g and 1 g units. THC content runs higher than flower.
- Edibles: gummies, chocolate, drinks. The label shows mg of THC per serving and per package. Most states cap a serving at 10 mg and a package at 100 mg.
- Tinctures: liquid in a bottle with a dropper. Doses are listed in mg per mL.
- Topicals: creams and balms. Most carry no intoxicating dose.
What the numbers mean
THC percent tells you the share of plant material that is THC. A 3.5 g jar at 20% THC holds about 700 mg of THC total. That figure is a lab result, not a dose. Two products with the same THC percent can differ in effect because of terpenes and other compounds.
Edible labels work in milligrams. A 100 mg package with 10 pieces holds 10 mg per piece. Start with one piece or less.
Purchase limits
States set limits per transaction. California allows 28.5 g of flower, 8 g of concentrate, and 800 mg of edible THC for adults 21 and older. Colorado uses the same 1 oz flower and 800 mg edible caps. Washington caps servings and packages by product type. Limits differ for medical patients in some states.
Price and tax
Menu prices can exclude sales tax and cannabis excise tax. The total at checkout runs higher than the sticker. Some stores post two prices: one for medical cardholders and one for adult-use buyers.
How to read a live menu
- Filter by category and weight.
- Check the THC range and the batch test date.
- Compare price per gram or per 10 mg of THC.
- Confirm the item is in stock at the store you plan to visit.
Menus change. A batch sells out and the listing drops. Flower with a test date more than a few months old can be dry. Ask staff for the harvest date if the menu does not list it.
