The short answer

In legal-cannabis states you can order marijuana delivery to an airport hotel if the drop-off address is the hotel building and not the airport. Licensed retailers deliver to street addresses, so a terminal address, an airport-owned garage, or a shuttle stop will not work. You must be 21 or older with a government photo ID, and you must take the handoff in person. Airport terminals, jet bridges, and airport authority property are off limits.

Before you order

  • A government photo ID showing you are 21 or older, or a valid medical card if your state allows patients under 21.
  • The hotel's full street address, including building number, wing letter, and ZIP code.
  • Confirmation that the hotel accepts cannabis deliveries for guests.
  • A phone number the driver can reach while you are on site.
  • A payment method the shop accepts. Many licensed retailers take cash or debit only and cannot process credit cards.

How to set up delivery to your hotel

  1. Write down the hotel's street address exactly as it appears on your booking confirmation. Do not enter the airport code, the terminal number, or the airport name.
  2. Open the retailer's delivery menu and enter that ZIP code. If the shop does not list your area, call and ask where its delivery boundary ends.
  3. Call the front desk and ask two questions: whether guests may receive third party deliveries, and where drivers should meet you. Get the answer before you pay.
  4. Place the order with the licensed retailer and give the hotel address, your full name, and your mobile number.
  5. Choose a delivery window that falls after check-in or well before your flight. Do not schedule it around a shuttle departure.
  6. Wait in the lobby, at the entrance, or wherever the front desk told you to stand. Keep your phone on and nearby.
  7. Meet the driver in person and hand over your ID. The driver will match it to the order and confirm your age.
  8. Carry the sealed bag to your room and open it in private. Keep the packaging closed in elevators, hallways, and any shared space.

Where you can and cannot use it

  • Your private room is the practical choice, and only if the hotel permits cannabis on the property.
  • Lobbies, hallways, gyms, pool decks, balconies, and parking lots are shared spaces. State public consumption rules and hotel smoking policies apply there.
  • Airport terminals, gates, ticketing halls, and airport-owned garages are off limits. Do not carry cannabis through a security checkpoint.
  • A rental car is not a private room. Treat it as a public space.

Flying home with it

Plan to leave your purchase behind. Federal law applies at the airport, and cannabis remains a controlled substance under federal law even when a state allows it. TSA officers screen for security threats and do not search bags for cannabis, but if they find it during a bag check they can refer you to local law enforcement. Carrying cannabis across a state line is illegal even when both states allow it. Finish what you bought, dispose of the rest, or hand it to a friend before you head to the terminal.

If something goes wrong

  • Driver cannot find the hotel: give the street address and the nearest cross street, not the airport exit number.
  • Front desk refuses the delivery: ask the driver to meet you at the curb or in a public spot on the same street.
  • Order is late and your flight is close: cancel with the retailer rather than leave a bag with staff.
