How to Inhale Cannabis from a Bong
To inhale cannabis from a bong, pack the bowl with ground cannabis. Light the cannabis. Draw smoke into the chamber. Remove the bowl or cover the carb. Inhale the smoke into your lungs. Exhale within 2 seconds. A bong filters smoke through water. Water cools the smoke. It does not remove all toxins.
What You Need
- A clean bong with a bowl, stem, and mouthpiece
- Ground cannabis, 2 to 3 mm pieces
- A lighter or hemp wick
- Water at room temperature
Step-by-Step
- Fill the bong with water. The water level should cover the downstem by 1 inch.
- Grind the cannabis. Use a grinder. Do not use large chunks.
- Pack the bowl. Fill it half full. Do not pack tight. Air must pass through.
- Hold the bong with one hand. Put your mouth on the mouthpiece.
- Light the edge of the bowl. Use a lighter. Keep the flame 1 inch away.
- Inhale with a slow, steady draw. Fill the chamber with smoke. This takes 3 to 5 seconds.
- Remove the bowl from the stem. Or cover the carb hole. This lets air in.
- Inhale again to clear the chamber. Pull the smoke into your lungs.
- Exhale. Do not hold the smoke for more than 2 seconds.
Safety Notes
Inhaling smoke irritates the lungs. Coughing is common. Start with a small amount. THC effects start in 5 to 10 minutes. Wait 15 minutes before taking more. Do not use a bong if you have a lung condition. Legal age for cannabis is 21 in most US states. Follow local laws.
