Short answer
Most cannabis seltzers sold in legal US stores contain 2 mg to 10 mg of THC per can. Some contain 1 mg. Some contain 20 mg or more where state law allows it. The number printed on the can is the total THC for the whole container, not per sip.
Common THC amounts per can
- 1 mg to 2 mg: light dose, used in session drinks and micro-dose lines.
- 5 mg: mid dose, the most common single-can size on dispensary shelves.
- 10 mg: the standard adult serving in California, Colorado, and most other legal states.
- 10 mg to 100 mg: high-dose or multi-serving cans, legal in a smaller number of states.
State caps
State rules set the ceiling. California limits a single serving to 10 mg THC and a package to 100 mg. Colorado caps a single-serving beverage container at 10 mg. Canada caps a whole beverage container at 10 mg THC. Hemp-derived seltzers sold outside dispensaries follow a different federal rule and often land at 3 mg to 5 mg per 12 oz can.
Reading the label
Check three lines: total THC per container, THC per serving, and servings per container. A 12 oz can with 10 mg THC and 2 servings delivers 5 mg per serving. Beverage labels print milligrams. They do not use the flower percentage scale.

Dosing for a first try
Start with 2 mg to 5 mg. New users should take 2 mg. Tolerance, body weight, and food in the stomach change the result. Keep seltzers stored away from children and pets.
