What full melt means
Full melt is ice water hash that leaves little to nothing behind when dabbed. Graders use a six-star scale, and hash in the five and six star range is what people call full melt. Ice water extraction, step by step
- Chill the room and the water to 34 to 40F.
- Fill one bucket with cold water and add ice.
- Stack the micron bags inside the second bucket, running from 220 down to 25.
- Add the cannabis material to the 220 bag.
- Cover the material with ice and cold water.
- Agitate with the paddle for 3 to 5 minutes on the first wash.
- Let the mixture settle for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Lift each bag in turn and rinse the sides with cold water.
- Scoop each grade onto a drying screen with a cold spoon.
- Wick standing water from the hash with a paper towel.
- Sieve the hash through a stainless strainer into fine granules.
- Spread the granules on parchment over a drying screen.
- Dry in a dark space at 55 to 60F and 40 to 50% humidity for 5 to 10 days.
- Test a rice grain sized sample on a hot banger.
- Jar the hash once it stops feeling cool and damp.

Store full melt in a small glass jar in the refrigerator, sealed and away from light. Let the jar reach room temperature before opening it to keep condensation off the hash. Use it within a few months for the cleanest melt.
