What to Look For
Crystal Trichomes: These are the most common and indicate the highest levels of potency. Look for them as tiny crystals on the surface of your cannabis buds.
Bulbous Trichomes: When the buds start to look cloudy and you notice larger, bulbous trichomes, it's a sign of a mature bud and high cannabinoid content.
Lens-like Trichomes: These appear when the buds are approaching maturity. They look similar to small lenses on the trichome heads.
Amber Trichomes: When the majority of the trichomes are amber-colored, your cannabis is ready for harvest. This signifies the breakdown of THCA to THC and is associated with higher potency.
When to Harvest
The amber color of trichomes and the changes in trichome shape and size are indicators of the optimal harvest time. When over 60% of the trichomes are amber, it's time to cut the plant.
